Rose Colored Glasses — Privacy Policy

Rose Colored Glasses is a Chrome extension that rewrites news headlines into happier versions. This page explains everything it does with data. It is short because the extension does very little with data.

What leaves your browser

To rewrite headlines, the extension sends the headline text from news pages you visit to our server, which passes it to DeepSeek (an AI provider whose servers are located in China) to produce the rewritten versions. Headline text is the only page content that is ever sent.

If your device supports Chrome's built-in on-device AI, rewrites happen entirely on your machine instead, and nothing leaves your browser.

The install ID

On install, the extension generates a random ID. It is sent with rewrite requests only to enforce a fair daily limit. It is not tied to your name, email, Google account, or anything else — it identifies no one.

What stays on your machine

• Your settings (humor style, sarcasm level, toggles).
• A local cache of past rewrites, so repeat pages don't need the network.
• The list of extra sites you enable with "Enable on this site." The extension only runs on the news sites it lists and the sites you explicitly add.

What we don't do

• No accounts, no sign-in, no API keys.
• Nothing is sold — not data, not anything.
• No analytics, no tracking, no ads.
• No browsing history is collected. Article bodies, comments, and everything that isn't a headline stay untouched and unsent.
